Who is Cricket?

I am a Senior Citizen that has always had a special place in her heart for pets and a special bond with animals. As a child I always had a dog.

Once, I rescued a Mallard duck, many years ago, that had half of it’s wing shot off. I took it to a Vet, and he had me hold the duck while he cauterized it. I kept him in a box with a screen over the top and would catch bugs for him to eat, until he did eventually died.

I worked as a Vet Tech Assistant and learned a lot of medical and caring for pets from the Vet. If my pets get sick I try all of my learning’s and remedies on them and they usually work 85 – 90% of the time. A Vet once told me, and I have never forgotten this, if a dog is vomiting; it must still get fluids so it does not dehydrate.

My husband & I have been together almost 30 years, (he helps me make Cricket's Doggie Delights). We have always had pets. At one point we had 6 dogs, 3 cats and 4 ducks. None of the dogs came into our home at the same time, but they all got along. They were all abused or unwanted in some way before we adopted them. Right now we have 4 dogs, Katie, Bessie, Cheyenne, Brandie, and one cat, Shadow who thinks he is a dog.. All four dogs are rescue dogs.

Everyone wants a puppy; but just remember they are just like children, they are cute when they are little, but they grow up. All the dogs and cats at the Shelters were once puppies or kittens. You must have patience. It’s a 24 hour, 7 day a week responsibility to feed, train and nurture. A pet is a lifetime responsibility, so be patient and you can have a loyal friend and companion for a long time.
